  • Sycamore Class British Red Cross Workshop

    Fri 15 Dec 2023 CB

It has been wonderful to have Anish from the British Red Cross in Sycamore class this morning! They have received a workshop to learn about the experience of migration and reasons why people may have to leave home. The children focused on developing empathy, by putting themselves in the shoes of others and engaging in stories of migration. A really good link to our class story this term (The Boy at the Back of the Class, by Onjali Q. Raúf). The children were brilliant and asked lots of great questions.

  • Our Fantastic Choir

    Mon 11 Dec 2023 KP

A huge well done to the children in the Key Stage 2 Choir for all their wonderful festive singing last week.  I am so proud of their commitment, enthusiasm and sharing of music both in school , and within the Belper community.

Also, thank you to the school staff who have supported the Choir this term.

  • Years 5 & 6 Belper Mill Visit 4th & 5th December

    Thu 07 Dec 2023 CB

The Years 5 & 6 children have had a wonderful time learning all about the history and significance of the Mill in Belper. They have learnt about the River Derwent and how it was used to power the Mill, the 1803 fire at the North Mill and how that prompted the design of a fireproof Mill, about the Victorian social order, about the working life of a Victorian child in the Mill and about how the Strutt family built so much of the town. Please see some of our wonderful photos attached!
