  • Environment Day

    Thu 24 Mar 2022

We wish to say a very BIG thank you to our parents, governors, staff and their families for all their hard work on Monday. Our EYFS, quad and garden areas are now safe and pleasurable environments for our children to play and learn. We look forward to seeing out youngest children enjoying these areas and all children growing and eating some of their own vegetables in our wonderful Long Row garden area.

If you have a Nursery, Reception or KS1 child I’m sure they may have already shared their excitement with you. We’re hoping you have had the pleasure of picking up from school this week and seeing the changes we’ve made.

Please see the attached ‘before and after’ photos; as well as seeing your dedicated staff team hard at work, with the occasional tea break. 😉

  • Meteorologist Visit

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

Year 3 and 4 were very excited to have a virtual visit from Kirsty McCabe, who is a meteorologist and is often on TV sharing the weather forecasts.  She was able to share lots of interesting facts and information about different weather types, how forecasts are made and how the water cycle works.  The children took part in a virtual quiz and had opportunities to ask questions linked to our Topic work. We were also pleased to hear that this weekend should have some good weather! • World Book day

    Thu 03 Mar 2022

A wonderful week promoting a love of reading has been had by all in school this week.

A big thank you everyone for your generosity shown towards our book fair and for your continued support of reading at home.

All children had the opportunity to visit our book fair and many lovely books were purchased along the way. We have made a massive £600.00 this year and this money will be well spent buying more books for school so we can continue promoting our whole school love of reading vision.

    EYFS & Year 1/2

The children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 have all thoroughly enjoyed their ‘Book Tasting’ experience. They spent quality time enjoying looking at a range of books, sharing their favourite books and stories with their peers and enjoying listening to a range of stories and poems in their classes.

The children were so excited and enthusiastic about sharing their books and having the opportunity to look at a new selection of texts.

    Year 3/4

Stunning Starfish and Super Seahorses spent the afternoon ‘tasting’ books, with a taster menu of different reading materials.  They sampled Fiction, Where in the World?, Magazines, Famous People, poetry and Artists.  The children really enjoyed looking at the range of books (all from our school library) and magazines, and then also enjoyed reading their own favourite books from home.

Their enthusiasm was fabulous to witness!

    Year 5/6

Perfect Penguins, Tremendous Turtles and Successful Seals also had a lovely afternoon sampling a taste of different books. We had ‘our suggestions’ with books the children bought in from home, artists, inspirational people, history, geography, science, newspapers and poetry. Table clothes and tea lights set the scene, with some calm music in our book café. The children really enjoyed ten minutes of silent reading, just enjoying the pleasure of reading, with many wanting to carry on! We finished the afternoon with some music and a few minutes enjoying our class book. A wonderful book day to finish off enjoying our trips to the book fair and the school library.
