We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Long Row Nursery.😊
Please read the welcome booklet (see below) as it is full of useful bits of information and will answer many of your questions! 🤓
Just a few answers to some queries we have recently received:
Nursery children will be referred to as FS 1 and Reception children as FS 2.
Nursery (FS 1) children DO NOT take part in formal PE lessons and DO NOT require a PE kit. We do recommend sending them in comfortable shoes e.g. trainers as they will be outside playing and using climbing equipment etc.
Children in EYFS (FS 1 and FS 2 combined) DO NOT need to bring water bottles as we will supply drinks throughout the session and fruit will still be available for a snack. All cups will be cleaned thoroughly between use.
Please stick to given start dates and times and ensure you only drop off/collect children at the given times (not earlier or later due to social distancing guidelines).
If you feel that your child needs spare clothes (this is often useful if they occasionally have toileting accidents), then you will need to put them in a drawstring bag, which will be left in school on their peg. Please LABEL everything with their name!!
Please DO NOT send them with a bag each day, apart from their lunch if attending full days.
Please take a look at the EYFS page as we have put a little video on to welcome the children and to show where they will go on their first morning.
We really appreciate your understanding and patience during these very tricky times!
Please get in touch if you require anymore help.

My name is Claire Lightfoot and I am the Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCO) at Long Row. I am a class teacher, but have additional training and experience in supporting children with additional needs. I work particularly closely with the Early Years Team to ensure early support is in place if needed.
As SENDCO I am here to support you as parents/carers, and school staff, with assessment of and support for children who may have additional needs or disabilities. We can then work together to ensure they are successfully and effectively included into the school community. The class teacher will always be your first point of contact, but I am here to offer additional support and guidance if necessary. I can be contacted through the school office.
If your child has had additional support through outside agencies such as speech therapy either at home or in a previous preschool setting - do let us know as this will be important for a successful start to nursery and school.
