Creative Clownfish and Amazing Angelfish

Spring Term 2021

We have been back at school for 2 weeks now and we have been having a lovely time playing with our friends, learning our rules and routines again and having lots of fun together! Over the last 2 weeks, we have been reading the story of Rosie's Walk and Where, oh where, is Rosie's Chick?! Both stories have been great for the children to enjoy retelling and discussing....They have particularly enjoyed watching the naughty fox's antics around the farmyard!

In our outdoor area, the children have spent time planting new flowers along our veranda to brighten the playground up now that Spring is just about here!

In our classroom we have also been observing our celery and spring onions regrowing in water- the children have been fascinated at how quickly they have regrown over the last week......pictures to follow!

Over the next week, we are going to be reading lots of egg and Spring stories, in our run up to the Easter break. After Easter we will be continuing our work around eggs, and will be taking a look at life cycles of animals that hatch from eggs and we will be looking forward to welcoming some special visitors to our classroom when we return.....

After Easter, you will have the opportunity to book a parent's meeting with your child's teacher via Zoom to discuss your child's progress and how they have settled back into school - details of dates will be sent out from the office in due course.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all your hard work during the most recent lockdown and to let you know how happy we all are to have the children back in school with us and all their friends. This year has been an unusual one and we hope to continue working hard with you and your children to keep life as normal as possible!

See you all soon.

Welcome 2

We have thought of a few things you can do at home to help you become independent and ready for school:

  • We bet you have got your uniforms, shoes and coat ready for starting school, so have a try at getting yourself dressed all by yourself and learn how to put your shoes and coat on independently. Don't panic if you can't do everything by yourself as we will just be delighted to see you have a try by yourself before asking for help - we will help you with the tricky bits! πŸ˜‡

  • At school you will have a peg, in the cloakroom area, with your name on it, so try and learn to recognise your name (when written). You will then be able to find things that belong to you easily. You don't need to be able to write your name as we will teach you this at school! 😊

  • Try going to the toilet by yourself so you can clean yourself afterwards and wash your hands - we imagine that you will all be very good at hand washing! You will be asked to wash your hands quite a lot at school!! πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ™ˆ

  • Play lots of games with your family - this will help you to become really good at sharing and turn taking. We have got lots of games to play at school! ⭐

  • At school, you will be asked to use a knife and fork to eat your lunch. 🍽️ It would be really helpful if you could use these all by yourself, so have a go during your family mealtimes. The teachers will stay with you at lunch during the first few days so don't worry as we will help you.

Don't worry if you can't manage everything by yourself but remember that practice makes perfect and the teachers will always help you when you are struggling!! πŸ€—
