The children in Year 6 have been involved in a year long project with Derby University as part of DerwentWISE. Back in the summer of 2015 the children spent two days learning about digital photography, and how to use professional cameras. They were then able to visit the River Gardens and Belper Mill areas to take photographs. Having looked through the hundreds of photos they took, each child selected their favourite photo to be submitted into an exhibition that was shared with parents/carers in April 2016. The University arranged for these photographs to be professionally printed, and prizes were awarded for the three images the University felt were the most eye-catching in terms of the composition of the image.
It has been a really interesting and fun project to be involved with, especially as the children were all able to learn new skills, and also to look at their local surroundings in different ways.
The first prize went to Adam, for this fantastic close up of part of the mechanisms at the sluice gates.
Runners up were Isabelle and Luke B.

If any of the Year 6 children would like digital copies of their photographs, please see Mrs Z-B.
